The S-Fuzz is wonderful sounding Fuzz distortion pedal that utilizes a silicon transistor to capture a modern tone, as opposed to the vintage tone of germanium transistor fuzz pedals. Adjusting the fuzz dial determines the amount of fuzz added, whilst the volume knob dictates the output level of the pedal. Combining a low-level fuzz with a higher volume will produce a "cleaner" yet deep character to the sound, whilst cranking the fuzz dial to full and backing the volume back slightly introduces the player to the world of classic fuzz. Simply a must for all aspiring grunge guitarists!


  • Analog circuitry with true bypass

The vital difference between analog and digital circuitry is comparable to pixels in digital images. Viewed from afar, the digital recreation of an analog wave signal may seem smooth, but when you look closely there are tiny discrete steps as the signal tries to approximate values. Analog waves are smooth and continuous, digital waves are stepping, square, and discrete.

  • Fuzz or distortion? Or both!

As heavier music evolved, people started trying to get more gritty distortion. What people discovered was that, instead of trying to cause a regular amplifier to become nonlinear, you could wrap diodes around a high gain voltage amplifier and cause much more distortion. The reason this worked is that in general, diodes will clip (distort) at a lower voltage than the transistor amplifier and it is much easier to create distortion with lower signals. At higher input signals, there will be even more distortion. It sounds different because the mechanism is diode clipping which is causing the distortion.

Germanium fuzz is less harsh, more expensive and gives a vintage sound. Silicon fuzz is harsher with more gain.
